Educational Therapy for Chinese Literacy
Areas of difficulty:
- Finds Chinese learning very difficult
- Limited vocabulary
- Unable to recall how to read and write Chinese characters
- Unable to retain characters learnt
- Struggles with reading comprehension and writing

- Limited exposure to the Chinese language
- Lack of structure in language learning, i.e. rote memorisation
- Poor orthographic and phonological processing skills
- Unfamiliar with skills and strategies required for literacy

Programmes
Reading Unlocked – A Modular Reading Programme
This reading programme equips children with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective and confident readers.
Target Age Group: 5 to 8 years old
Duration: 8 weeks, 1.5 hours per session

- Take-home materials to reinforce learning and application of concepts
Executive Function Skills Coaching
Areas of difficulty:
- Poor time management
- Unable to prioritise and get started on tasks
- Struggles with sustaining attention to complete tasks
- Has difficulty understanding, organising, collating and interpreting information
Some reasons for difficulties:
- Attention deficits
- Lack of structure
- Co-existing learning difficulties

- Study skills instruction
- Parent-child coaching

Speech and Language Therapy
Areas of difficulties:
- Speech difficulties, such as stuttering and unclear pronunciation
- Receptive language difficulties, such as poor listening comprehension and difficulties following classroom instructions
- Expressive language difficulties, such as use of vague or incorrect words when recounting stories
- Poor social skills, such as difficulties maintaining conversation and repairing communication breakdowns

- Lack of understanding of non-verbal cues
- Challenges in language processing
- Poor auditory processing skills
- Poor executive functioning
