Dawn Tan

Dawn has been an educational therapist for more than 10 years, and has worked with children and adolescents with autism, ADHD, global developmental delay, mild intellectual disability, speech and language disorders and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. Over the last decade, Dawn has provided intervention for students in various mainstream, international and special education schools, supporting them in Literacy and Numeracy.

In addition to educational therapy, Dawn provides school-based intervention, training and consultancy services to local preschools, primary and secondary schools, and coaches parents in supporting their children at home.

Dawn is trained in the Lindamood-Bell programmes and holds a Post-Graduate Cert. in Specific Learning Differences (SpLD), an Advanced Diploma in Special Education and an Advanced Certificate in Dyslexia and Literacy Teaching. Her students are her greatest teachers and she seeks to find ways to advance their learning, using a diagnostic and prescriptive approach to therapy. Dawn believes that every child can learn and progress and recognizes parents as important partners in their child’s intervention process.

Eugene Lim

Primary and Secondary Numeracy

Since 2013, Eugene has worked with students at the Primary and Secondary levels with a variety of learning differences, such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Autism, ADHD and ADD enrolled in local and international schools. In addition to building literacy and numeracy proficiency in students, he has a special interest in helping students build exam-specific skills and Mathematics problem-solving strategies needed to excel in national examinations.

Eugene also has had experience with developing objective and prescriptive assessments for numeracy skills and he was a key member in establishing the Educational Therapy service for a charity offering multi-disciplinary support for families of children with extraordinary needs. This enabled him to work with a diverse team of psychologists, occupational therapists and speech & language therapists to build positive relationships between caregiver and child and improve their learning outcomes.

Eugene holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and has a Specialist Diploma in Specific Learning Differences (SpLD). He also holds professional certificates in Dyscalculia and Numeracy Teaching and IEP (Individualized Education Plans) Planning for SpLD Learners.

    Kong Yun Rui

    Chinese Literacy and Executive Function Skills

    Rui has been working with learners with special educational needs since 2012, supporting them in English and Chinese literacy. A pioneer of the Chinese Programme at the DAS, she oversaw the development of the program in her role as programme manager, including developing the curriculum for primary and secondary school students.

    In addition to direct intervention work, Rui trains and mentors new educational therapists, educators and parents to support diverse learners and is an experienced practicum supervisor. At DAS Academy, she co-developed the Specialist Diploma in Educational Therapy (Chinese Support). A strong believer in evidence-based practices, Rui participates actively in research and collaborates with institutions for
    scientific research. Her work has been published in journals and presented at conferences locally and internationally.

    Rui holds a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning of Chinese Language, a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education Needs and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, in addition to a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance and the Advanced Certificate in Dyslexia and Literacy Teaching. She believes that languages open up the world of a child and education should empower one with skills, knowledge and confidence to face the future.
