Reading Unlocked!

Reading Unlocked! is a literacy programme rooted in the Science of Reading, incorporating approaches from Orton-Gillingham, Sounds-Write and Seeing Stars. It is designed to help children read confidently, spell accurately, and understand what they read — in a systematic and structured manner. We move children from learning to read to reading with confidence. Reading Unlocked! gives every child the guidance they need to experience success in reading.

Target Group: 5 to 8 years old

Class Sizes: 2 to 4 in a class

Class Duration: 90 minutes
(inclusive of 10 minutes debrief with parents to cover what was learnt and how to apply take-home activities)

“The reading unlocked programme was so helpful in breaking reading down into simple and accessible steps. It gave my daughter confidence to start reading independently and provided me with the knowledge and tools to support her literacy journey at home!”

“I’m really glad he enjoys the class as it is academic in nature and he is inclined to be resistant. Thank you for making learning enjoyable for him.”

“Signing up for Reading Unlocked was the best decision I made to prep my boy for P1. Loved how lessons are structured into modules and started with the basics to build a good foundation. Especially helpful is the brief to parents after each lesson so that parents can reinforce learning at home with the task cards provided. 5 modules later, I have seen remarkable improvements in him. From struggling to read, he started to take interest to read posters and signs that we come across. At P2 now, there are times I find him silently reading a book on his own and it is certainly an achievement unlocked! Thankful for all the teachers who have been patient and encouraging throughout his learning journey!” – Winnie

“Reading Unlocked is so much more than a phonics class! The various rules taught have helped him tremendously in his reading/spelling in school!”

“Thank you so much Dawn for the Reading Unlocked programme. J’s confidence has grown so much compared to when he first started. Today, although he is not yet a completely fluent reader, he is much more assured and willing to attempt even when a word appears daunting.”

– Parent of a P1 child diagnosed with dyslexia
